Making time for Self-care

Have you noticed that self-care is often overlooked when we get busy or are feeling stressed? We get so caught up in the moments, and are so consumed with achieving or doing things, that we put our needs last.

But it’s exactly at these times that we need to prioritise and look after our mental, emotional, physical & spiritual health.

You can look at self-care as a way to recharge your batteries and plug back in to the joy of life.

That way you can see how important it is to recharge ourselves regularly.

I believe that self-care is not a luxury, but an absolute necessity. The more I have invested in myself energetically, the more I realise how critical it is to invest in our own self-care.

The methods of self-care can look different for everyone but it all comes down to what fuels your heart, mind, body and spirit. 💫

Some self-care suggestions

Here's a few easy suggestions to give yourself a little bit of TLC and recharge your batteries. I hope you find some of these useful.

✨Spend time in nature. Sit with some trees, take a hike or swim in the ocean. Any type of connection with nature that you feel will benefit you will do the trick!

✨Move your body eg yoga, walk, swim. Again, do what calls you.

✨Take a break from social media. We are always so bombarded with alerts, messages, etc. Giving yourself a break from social media will help clear mental space.

✨Eat nourishing foods that you feel good eating. Tune in to your body. What does it really want to consume?

✨Sleep when you feel like sleeping. And don’t feel guilty about it! We often overlook sleeping because we feel guilty that we should be “doing” something all the time. Rest is so, so important. It’s our body’s way of saying “hey I need a break”.

✨Meditate. This can be a silent meditation, a guided meditation or even anything that puts you in to a focused, quiet state in your head, like creating art for example.

✨Practice gratitude. It’s a way to appreciate yourself and what’s around you, instead on focusing on the negatives. Doing this will help calm you.

✨Bath with candles and soft music. Anything simple and achievable to do.

✨Listen to soft or uplifting music. Music can really impact our cells at a vibratory level. It can lower your heart rate and blood pressure, bringing you back in to balance with yourself.

✨Read a book. Find one that you love. Sit and enjoy.

✨Be creative eg paint, draw, knit, play, scrapbook, take photos, cook, write, sing. Whatever fuels your heart with passion.

✨Spend time with people who make you feel good. The ones who see you, listen to you. If you don’t have anyone like that, try joining a group where you share similar interests.

✨Cuddle a pet. Patting a pet helps to calm our heart rate and is such a feel good thing to do.

✨Have a massage. Or anything that is a healthy activity that makes your body feel good.

✨Go to a sound bath. A great way to release stress and anxiety and bring you back to a calm state. Oh, I might know someone! 😂 (Check out my regular Sound bath page if interested!)

It’s these simple things that add up and fill you up. You don’t need a lot of money, you don’t need internet, you don’t need a lot of time. Just a willingness to stop and do something small that fills your heart & soul. But do it regularly.

If there is one thing you can do today to recharge your batteries, what would that be?

Now, make sure to do that!
