About Spirit Guides; part 3

I hope you have enjoyed reading Parts 1 & 2 of my three part series about Spirit Guides.

In Part 1, I explained a little bit about Spirit Guides. How we all have one main Guide and usually a few more around us, what their role is and what they are here for. If you’d like to read that one first before moving on to this blog, you can click here to read Part 1.

Part 2 was about how your Spirit Guides communicate with you. They want nothing more than to help and guide you so they are connecting with you in different ways. I explained a few of these ways so you can start to become aware of them. If you’d like to have a recap on that one, you can click here to read Part 2.

This blog, Part 3 is how you can deepen your connection and be more open with your Spirit Guides, so that it becomes more of a two way communication.

Before we start, I wanted to point out that whether you are aware of your Spirit Guides presence in your life and whether you believe in them or not; they are there. They are always there. I have deepened my own connection with my Spirit Guides through learning about them and being open to communication with them. I have had a few (human) teachers along the way that helped me to open up to this, and the more I have done that and trusted, the deeper my connection with my own Spirit Guides.

Check out below some of my many(!) Spirit Guided drawings. Through my connection with my Spirit Guides, they led me to start to sketch and subsequently I also started receiving Channeled messages from them. These messages hold so much wisdom. I now also provide these Spirit Guided drawings and channeled messages for others.

Know that you have many gifts inside of you too that are just waiting to be expressed, and when you have open communication with your guides, this is something that you can explore together.

Through my experiences, I have come to learn a lot of similarities of how Spirit Guides work, which prompted me to collate it all in to a three part blog to share the wisdom with others.

So let’s do this! Part 3….

How to connect with your Spirit Guides

If you want to deepen your connection with your Spirit Guides, try these simple practises. PS They LOVE it when you connect with them.

  • Meditation & stillness: When you quiet your mind, you create space to connect through clear guidance. Your Spirit Guides can come through with thoughts, images, symbols, feelings or visions during meditation or times of stillness. When we are busy, it is harder to connect but in times of stillness, it’s as if the barriers are taken away. Don’t be hard on yourself if it doesn’t happen the first few times. It takes time to discern what is yours and what is your Spirit Guides, but with time and practise you will come to discern the difference. And sometimes it’s subtle. Be open to the guidance.

  • Spending time in nature is a great way to still the mind and allow your Guides to come through. You might start by having a thought, and find yourself questioning how that thought came through. Or that that thought is kinda different to how you normally think. That’s a sign that this could be your Spirit Guides entering your thoughts in those moments of stillness, or rather you being more aware of them now!

  • Journal / write down your thoughts, dreams and any signs you notice. Guides often communicate through symbols or messages that can show up in your daily life. You might be surprised as to what you receive without realising it. Normally it’s in a way that relates to you, and you have a little revelation, a little shock, hey hang on, that’s not me. Spirit Guides also have a terrific sense of humour so don’t be surprised if you receive signs that are funny! One of my Guides is always making me laugh with his silly antics, he comes in to my thoughts or visions making funny movements. He’s here to help me lighten up and see the joy in life and he certainly does that.

  • Free journalling is also a great way to receive messages. In a quiet spot where you won’t be disturbed, write down a question, clear your mind (take a few deep breaths or do a quick meditation) and then start writing. Write down whatever thoughts pop in to your mind. Just write and keep writing. Don’t question it. Only read once you have finished writing. If you notice the writing is using slightly different language to your normal language or has a different tone, that’s a sure fire way to know it’s your Spirit Guides.

  • Try drawing or being creative with whatever medium calls you. Allow yourself to be free with your creation and have no expectation of a pretty picture in the end. You may find that you receive clarity about a situation or a worry you’ve had as you are being creative. That there, is you being open to receiving guidance in a moment of stillness / space in the mind, and that’s the space where your Guides can come through clearly. Also, the actual finished creation is something you can relate to. Either way, you are allowing space for free expression.

  • Ask for guidance. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Set an intention to receive guidance from your Spirit Guides and be open to how it comes. If you suddenly have a thought, “oh my goodness, that’s the answer to that question”, know that’s them. And sometimes it can be out of the blue or in the silliest of ways!

  • Try to be open. Don’t have an expectation of how you should be connecting with your Guides. Allow the connection to arise however it does. Your strength and how you communicate with your Guides may be different to another. Do it your way.

  • And finally, trust. The biggest hurdle to overcome is to letting go of doubt and distinguishing between what is yours and what is your Guides. This gets easier the more you connect with them and the more you allow yourself to trust that what you are receiving is from your Guides. I promise this will improve with time and practise.

Your Guides are always nearby, ready to connect and offer their guidance in your life. Don’t expect your connection to be a huge bolt of lightning. Spirit Guides are (usually) much more gentle and subtle than that. It’s a matter of building up trust in yourself and the way you communicate with your Spirit Guides. And that can take time. It’s a matter of pushing aside the doubt and building more trust in 1) your ability to accept the connection from them, and also 2) to be more forthright and reach out to them!

I recommend that you practise and continue practising. Slowly, slowly (or maybe not so slowly for you!) you will start to trust that what you are receiving is your guides. When you get to a point of open communication from and to them, you really feel so connected to them and you feel part of a team.

You have a point of reference to ask and receive always. It’s not like problems go away. They don’t. But you are more expansive and have access to so much more universal information if you allow yourself to keep trusting yourself and your Spirit Guides.

I have collated this information through my own personal experiences and also the many years of spiritual development, courses, reading, through connecting with them and by doing a lot of Spirit Guided drawings. It is my lived truth.
